The Bronze Forest - BW by Ravenari The Bronze Forest - BW by Ravenari
The Bronze Forest

Full view for details.

Still due to be coloured. But I liked the inked version enough to submit it. :) Quite a few people have asked that I submit more of my black and white work as prints, and this will be one of the rare few that ends up in that category.

*

Illustration board. Waterfast, archival ink in 0.1 and 0.5 nibs.

This is wonderful! I love all the creatures hiding in the forest, seen only if you look closely for them.

:D It'll be awesome for the intended recipient. She also has quite a young child who will grow up with this illustration, which I think is just awesome.

Oh, wow -- I would LOVE to have grown up with this, spending time searching through it to see what kinds of creatures might be peeking out at me!

On the first glance I saw only the clearing and the couple of possumlike fellas. But the more I looked the more I saw - the stag and the sleeping something looking very much alike to Totoro, the watching cat, insects etc etc.. It struck me how much details and hidden life is in there :faint:
The work is very good!

Yay, I did see them all. Having things hidden in the picture is a great way to make people look at the details. Every time I come back to look at this I'm blown away by just how much time, effort, and love has gone into this. :)

It makes me miss the coloring books I used to have. Lovely. But the poor frog... I keep thinking it's a parasitic fungus.

Stunning. I can't wait to see this in color, the transformation from linework to finished piece is sure to be spectacular. This easily has the potential to become one of my all-time favorite pieces. Muy Bien

Thank you; wow. It's very monochromatic (in browns), but the colouring is working out so far!

I canz see a totoro!

The lineart here is really a treat to the eyes, I think I love the rhinoceros/lantern beetles best, but it is hard to chose!

Yes! The person who is receiving this picture has a young child who loves Totoro. :D There's also a really miniature Totoro in there as well.

This is great, because I love your colouring, but the lineart is always a masterpiece itself. And it shows here. I love the way the lines (and textures) are a bit stylized but based on reality. And all the small animals hiding in the forest :aww: Can you say how much time did it take you to draw this?

I can't unfortunately (re: time) since I wasn't logging it, and it was so intensive that I was often only working in 20 minute blocks throughout the day. Easily about 40 hours though?
