Russian Wolf
Canis lupus communis

Available as Print

The Russian wolf, one of the least threatened species of wolf, is also one of the largest subspecies of grey wolf.

The leaves in the background are from the hornbeam from some of the regions you can find a Russian wolf.

Wow, this is really beautiful! The pale pink is a really nice touch, and it looks so dignified and wise.

it's been like 6 or 7 years since I read that book, and that was only because I was writing it.

i like the colors and detailing, and the feel to.nice job :)
That´s beautiful! The eye somehow feels really alive, maybe because of the warm tones? Or more likely the fact that you can make just about any drawing look alive.
I love the leaves, did you depict any specific species?
Also the pink doesn´t look "pink" at all - by any other artist, a wolf with pink markings would count as "really-really-weird-and-stupid", but yours looks just beautiful.

Thank you! I was hoping pink wouldn't seem to girly for a rather large, solid, chunky-monkey wolf. :D

I'm glad that the pink markings don't look 'really really weird and stupid,' and I was a bit worried about that too. But the wolf wanted pink.

I think the eye looks alive more because of the warm tones, I do think I invest a bit of time into thinking how to make the eye expressive, but a little bit of yellow and orange never goes astray. hehehe. :)

No specific species of hornbeam, a 'russian one,' lol, how vague of me. We don't have hornbeams in Western Australia, so I mainly went off internet images. *blush*
