Box Jellyfish Totem by Ravenari Box Jellyfish Totem by Ravenari
Box Jellyfish as Totem

The write-up isn't finished yet, so I can't link to it. But in the Australian Animal Oracle Deck, the box jellyfish represents challenge and warning.

The reason I haven't put up art in a while is because I recently had surgery. But I'm recovering okay now. :)

illustrator's board, pencil, some aquarelle, metallic paint, a tiny bit of a acrylic, etc.

Jellyfish are nice... I guess. To look at. We only have tiny ones here, 3-4cm... but I know some other species sting pretty bad.

The drawing is extraordinary though, that red circle really does kind of "hurt" or "sting". It looks just as if it were going upwards into the light... But why am I telling you all this, as if you didn´t know?! :D
Well it´s great anyway, keep it up :)

This one is based off the box jellyfish, and its stings can be so painful that people have been recorded screaming in pain, while unconscious and sedated. It is thought to be among the worst pain in the whole world. In the deck, this card will represent unexpected pain or 'challenge.' So yeah, the red circle is to hopefully make people take notice if they draw it!!!

The irony is that... from the box jellyfish, they are starting to develop really viable, non-addictive pain relievers that are many times more powerful than morphine. Go figure! :D

Wow, I wouldn't ever think of a box jellyfish as a totem, but I like how you did. :)

Hope you recover well.

Sorry to hear about the surgery, I hope you are better soon. I love your totem series and I think jellies are wierd. Some have eyes but there is no brain. Very stange.

As a Science Fiction fan it always amuses me when people say that they find this or that alien unbelieveable. I just smile and think of all the odd bizarre creatures on this planet and I think that NOTHING is too strange for nature to create somewhere.
